Lunchtime. Same old cafeteria.
She nibbled, then looked around, surveying the scene, watching the children at play. A sip of tea, another bite, another unhurried review of her surroundings. She was not yet half-way through her meal when he left, depositing his tray on the way out.
It struck him that life is perhaps best enjoyed that way, a little at a time. Appreciate the minute.
Pause as you go.
Not the whole-hog-dashing-energy-guzzling-busyness which marks so much of one’s unthinking transit through this secular world. To take what comes, however small, with appreciation and thanksgiving, not rushing unreflectively toward the completion of one task then on to the next. Savour the present. Be grateful to be alive.
