A The Greek word translated ‘uttermost’ in this text is pantêlēs, the import of which is, variously, to a completion, or terminus; full-ended; thoroughly; by all necessary means.
This is a promise of enormous significance to the consecrated Christian, and a hedge in the darkest hours of the soul against discouragement and depression over one’s private sins.
The Saviour’s love for His people, His little ones, is not tenous, but deep, robust, towering to the skies. He ever lives to intercede for you who are justified and sanctified by faith, and will freely forgive the earnest supplicant
Let this assurance comfort your heart, when doubt assails
you.
