LET THERE BE LIGHT

Let there be sight

Genesis 1: 3

let it be light pictureThe faculty of sight existed in mammals and cold-blooded animals prior to man’s creation. That is to say, the world as God made it anticipated sight (vision). The human eye was fashioned after similar structures already created, but was now allied with a superior brain-mind – not merely intended to “see” but to perceive – understand and to imagine, and thus anticipate in the “mind’s-eye” what was not, up until then, apparent, enhancing human ability to plan, to “make”, as a small replica of his Creator, endowed with the ability to project his understanding into the future. Evolution as an non-thinking “force” (if such it is) cannot “see” anything, nor project its intentions. Were it not for the creation of Man and the alliance of brain and vision, the animal world may have continued to exist in an unimproved environment. The rational implication of “Let there be light” is that Man was the Creator’s end in view.’ – Selected
