‘A marked sign of the times [1948] is Israel’s return to Palestine and Britain’s attitude thereto.

God gave Britain (the isles of Tarshish) the high honor of removing, through the Berlin Congress of Nations, in 1878, many hindrances to Israel’s return and unmolested abiding there freed from the oppression of the Turk; for when the Russians were advancing on Constantinople, Britain, through its prime minister Disraeli, a Christian Hebrew, sent its navy into the Dardanelles and sent an ultimatum to Russia to the effect that Britain would declare war on Russia, which for centuries has coveted, and still covets, access to the Mediterranean Sea, through the Dardanelles, if the Russians continued to advance.

Britain’s ships were arrayed in line of battle at a point where they could rake the Russians, if they would attempt to advance beyond Britain’s ships.

This ultimatum and Britain’s men-of-war so arrayed forced the Russians to halt and retreat.

Britain’s actions forced the meeting of the Congress of Nations which assembled at Berlin in 1878, and resulted in Disraeli’s return to Britain and reporting to her Majesty, Queen Victoria of Britain and Empress of India, etc., that he brought to her Majesty peace with honor.

This entire set of events was forecast in the Bible (Is. 60: 9) . . . . Thus did Jehovah honor Britain more highly than any other European nation. . . .’
