‘Lauder In British Recruiting Rally In Taft To-Day At 12:30:

Col. Jamison, Major Mercer and Lieut.

Cutler of British Mission Will Speak.

‘[Music hall performer] Harry Lauder and members of the British recruiting mission, all officers who have seen service at the front, will speak at a luncheon in the Taft [Hotel] to-day at 12:30. This luncheon is held under the auspices of the Publicity Club to stimulate recruiting for the British army in Connecticut. In the British mission are Colonel Jamison, Major Mercer and Lieutenant Cutler.

 

‘Mr. Lauder has spent most of his time in striving to stir up recruiting in this country. To-day his talk will be a serious one, relating to his experiences at the front and to those of his son who recently died fighting for the Allies. Colonel Jamison, the first British colonel to lead a successful attack, will relate his war experiences. Major Mercer, head of the British recruiting mission, is to act as toastmaster. Lieutenant Cutler will speak on the war.’ (Press report)
